30 Days of Fall! Day 13-A Fall Ride

I learned just nigh of 39 years ago the value of simply going for a ride. A Summer Sunday afternoon ride, a snowy winter’s night ride, a ride to view other’s Christmas decorations, a fall foliage ride. Sometimes those fall foliage rides would take us two or three hours from home as we drove from central Maine to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Kancamangus Highway is known for it’s view, it’s vastness, it’s colorful array of perfectly disordered leaves-some still clinging to their home of the last few months, some having already fallen to one day supply the earth with more dirt, some are in midair coloring the otherwise clear blue sky.

Other times, though, those rides can be close to home and just as enjoyable. An open window, a fresh breeze, a Dunkin Donuts tea with cream and sugar and an old Maine country road in Chesterville just 10 minutes from home is sometimes all you need.

Enjoy….
